WOONONA overcame a spirited Dapto to survive the cull in the first week of the Illawarra junior netball finals at Berkeley's Fred Finch Park on the weekend.

The Voodoo Dolls were too strong for the Untouchables in a nail-biting 12-years minor semi.

Both teams started strongly and they finished the first quarter locked at 6-6.

Woonona fought their way to a 12-9 lead at the main break but couldn't shake Dapto, who were still within striking distance despite trailing by four at the end of the third quarter.

The Voodoo Dolls finally broke free in the final term, scoring four goals to one for a 23-16 triumph.

Goal shooter Allana Hoyle landed 13 of her 28 attempts and Sinead Bailey managed 10 from 18 for Woonona, while Leah Meares (11 from 26) and Stephanie Shoard (five from 14) combined in the Dapto goal circle.

Woonona will return to the court next weekend to face the winner of this Saturday's major semi-final between the Berkeley Strikers and Shellharbour Cheetahs.

In the 12-year's B minor semi, St John Vianney's prevailed 24-18 over Dapto Chickadees, the C grade play-off went to Dapto Demons via a 22-13 win over the Northern Suburbs Angels, while Fairy Meadow Mayhem downed the Albion Park Hot Shots 17-7 in the D grade contest.
